Possible Fedex Scam

Got home today and had an e-mail apparently from Fedex saying they had a delivery they were unable to make as they needed some additional info and asking me to click a link to their website.

Being suspicious I 'phoned Frdex so see if this was real and it's some form of scam they're aware off so they suggested deleting the e-mail and then running an anti-virus scan.

Just thought I'd pass the warning on.

John.

Same goes for 'WhatsApp', DHL, Royal Mail, Amazon - there are lots out there containing .zip files.

The Amazon ones are particularly good rip-offs.

The only give away is that the 'From field' is all in capitals, the rest looks cock-on.

Had a few fedex ones this morning. Pretty easy to spot as spam when there's not even a company logo on them and the hyper links are directed to spamRus.com.

Paypal, hsbc, dhl are also quite common as already mentioned.

Had one last week from Royal Mail about a package with HMRC import taxes to pay. No sign of anything dodgy in the link addresses.

Checked with my brother who does send stuff this time of year (only reason I opened the mail) and it wasn't him so was about to delet, at which point McAfee kicked in that it had quarantined a Trojan. Hadn't clicked any links.

Ah thats good to know - I had the Fedex ones yesterday, which coincided with a missing delivery from one of my suppliers who were using Fedex! I was suspicious of the email though so didnt bother and instead contacted the supplier.

Anything I receive that includes a zipped file attachment goes straight in the bin unless it's from someone I know and I would only open it once I have spoken to them and established it was them that had sent it.
