What would you do?
A couple of months ago I sold an old Range Rover on Ebay. It was sold as spares and went for £150.
The bloke turned up with a trailer behind his Ranjy.
The spare Ranjy has no battery so I reluctantly took the brand new one off my kit just to get the old bus onto the trailer. I told him that the
battery was off another car and he wasn't keeping it!
Then we noticed the towbar on the blokes Rangy was cracked!
I spent two hours rolling in slush in a snow storm taking the towbar off the spares Rover whilst the other chap and his mate took the cracked one off.
We soon had the good towbar fitted and the trailer attached. The chap mentioned he was after some panels for the RR and I happened to have a few new
ones that I bought for the scrapper before I got bored with it so I let him have them.
When he came to pay, he only had twenty's, so I let him have it for £140 and wave him goodbye.
So this blokes got three hours of my time, two hundred quids worth of new panels a RR for spares (that was in better condition than the one he turned
up in!), and my brand new £90 battery! In all the excitement, we forgot to take it off.
By the time I realised, he was almost home in Mansfield. I sent him a text saying that I would collect the battery the following weekend as I was in
that area. He text back saying that was OK.
I tried 'phoning as I got close but there was no answer. I tried several times during the weekend but still no reply.
i 'phoned him a couple of weeks later on my GFs 'phone and he answered but then said I had the wrong number!
Now I don't mind driving down to Mansfield to collect the battery but it would be nice to know he would be there when I got there! I'm
sure if I turned up on the doorstep he'd give me the battery back as he wasn't that big and seemed a fairly nice chap. He's just
chancing the fact that I won't be driving a four hour return journey just to collect a poxy battery. To tell the truth, it would cost more in
fuel to go and collect it but it's my battery!!!
What now? I realise that y battery has a new home so what stunts can I play on him?
A load of Readymix o his doorstep?

Well for a start you can contact Ebay and get his address 
Once armed with his address - I'd wage a war of Pizza deliveries, Funeral Services, Taxi's etc.
The good thing is - if you ring all the taxis and keep doing it - his address will get blacklisted
Also - sign him up for every single spam mail campaign on the internet - P0RN etc .
Then after a month of this - I'd turn up and collect my battery from a VERY HAGGARD individual

I have his address. I got the postcode from the Ebay invoice but his address was a bit vague so I got his home number from one of his previous
listings and checked it with an online 192 thingy.
Hmmm Pizza deliveries. I could get some taxi's to collect the pizzas.....

whitby to mansfield and back is a good old drive.
I think this one comes under the "life's a bitch sometimes" banner, and you'll just have to let it go.
Just think, it's better than the day I drove past a horse slightly too fast and it ended up costing me £1600 to be done for "driving
without reasonable consideration for other road users"
Tis a bitch, but sometimes life is. Let it go and sometime fate will work the other way round and something will fall into your lap!

PS don't think most of the other suggestions are good ideas, tit for tat never works, but signing him up for some porn publications could be
amusing and light hearted enough and still give you at least some satisfaction!!!

where as if your an arrogant wankie youll get full respect of most and theyll fall over themselves to help you
only a minority will appreciate you being helpful

ah, the old "don;t have the right money" trick.
Unfortunatley you have to put it down to experience and not be so helpful for the future - you have been had I'm afraid.
As for battery, is it worth the hassle etc: If you think it is, then jchances are Rangie is out on the front so just open it up and remove your
battery.
As for pizza etc: stuff, although it wold be nice to have some sort of revenge, you're time would better spend on something more constructive.
Negative feedback natrually!.

I hate to say this but I totally agree. As a nice guy I've come to the conclusion that these days anyone that is nice or plays by the
"rules" just get walked over....twice....and not in the good way.

i still try and treat people how i like to be treated. Yeah i get crapped on, but i also meet decent blokes along the way and i think the others get

can get it back to you the Locost way  If he's out working during the day, I'm sure you could get him to leave the battery out for me to

go to mansfield and talk to a local gang of lads, buy £20 of spray paint and give to the gang, tell them this guy screwed you over and you want
revenge, im sure they would be happy to obligue (spelling), give the gang £50 to get some weed, job done!
it will cost him far more to get rid of the graffiti, lol, then ring the taxi's pizza's etc and say its the house that looks like a drug
den!
I love Pinto's, even if i did get mine from P&O!

I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm not going to get the battery back. If anyone fancies calling by Farnsfield Court to collect,
I'll pay you in Jaffa Cakes and beer!
The revenge thing would probably bite me in the hoop as he knows my address and there are only a couple of take aways in Whitby and I don't want
to upset them (even though I would lose weight!), when he does the same back!
As for the bein nice thing..........
I always try to be nice. Sometimes, it happens back to me but as far as I can remember, it has only happened on this forum! (Cheers folks). I once
stopped to help an elderly couple who had broken down. After they had gone, I noticed my toolbag out of my boot had gone.........
As my old Grandad used to say, "he who sits by the river long enough, will see the body of the enemy floating by....." Either he was
chinese or he stole the phrase and accent off someone else. He also used to say " he who hesitates, er....what was I saying?" He went a
bit mad before he died.

thats the way the world is today, though its always had people like that. my dad is a helpful and nice person, helping peeps who have broken down etc
but has been taken for a ride many a time.
i do try to be a niceperson, i think i am pretty good in this modern world. one thing that keeps happening to me is passing ATM's beeping at me
do i want me time. yup someone left there card in there. but being the nice guy i am, i took the card out and handed it in to the bank. has happened
twice now to me.

remember that two wrongs will never make a right. It might make you feel better, but then the world would be in a downward spiral of escalating
miserableness.
And if you think the world is already going downhill, well, its never too late to change it. 
Regarding the battery, you need to get it back. Its not hard to get it without resorting to violence or revenge, im sure the hellfire lads will sort
it politely

If Phil collects the battery i may be able to get it from Phil and bring up to Durham. That gets it a lot closer. Im driving to Bristol on Tuesday
and then back up on Wednesday.
Id jump at the chance of calling to see Team Hellfire - only problem will be timing it up when people are home. Its all doable for a locoster.

Never a truer phrase said. Im as soft as they come - will always put myself out to help others. If they cross me then thats another matter but people
only have to be half reasonable and ill do owt to hlp.
The guy got a £10 discount and 3 hours of your time - fair dooos i guess, write that off to experience. Battery - yeah get it back, lets see if we can
help you.

Just been round to where he lives but without a house number, he won't be that easy to find. No sign of any Range Rovers whatsoever. I have his
home phone number, name and address (apart from house number) so does anyone know of a website that will give me the house number? I've tried
directory enquiries to no avail.

If you have his full postcode that will cover a range of house numbers, still might be a number though. You could then ring the phone and listen out
for a ring
