Puncture. Tyre prices.
Hi All,
Picked up a puncture in the tin top yesterday, a wood screw through the sidewall, mmmm, so it's a new tyre.
The cars fitted with a nearly new set of Bridgestones so I need one the same.
So, first thing this morning I was on the net, trolled through all the web sites, cheap tyres, cheapo tyres, even cheaper tyres,
tried them all. One even wanted £45 extra if they fitted it before Tuesday.
Same old story, nobody stocks anything nowadays.
So in desperation I phoned the main dealer (Audi) and they gave me the phone number of the local firm they deal with.
"Yes Sir, we can have one here this morning Sir. We'll fit it today Sir or tomorrow if you prefer."
And guess what, £9.50 cheaper than the best deal I could find on the net.

Ive had similar experience with my old Mondeo. 17" alloys. Tyre failed MOT. They couldnt release the car but would allow me to supply tyre. My
mate is in the trade, phoned his contacts and got me trade price. Ford quoted only a fiver more and weer quicker! (Their tyre place collected wheel
etc - it wasnt actually Ford who supplied and fitted).
Its sometimes worth trying the expensive places.

In the same vein, a couple of years ago the battery died in my Toyota Carina - looked around, was quoted silly money even for the lowest grade of
battery, then asked in the Toyota dealership. £10 cheaper than anyone else for a top-grade branded & warrantied battery, fitted while I
waited.
Never hurts to ask...

Its always worth phoning around.
The cheapest place in ipswich for tyres at the minute is John Grose the ford place especially if u can get trade and they stock loads.

Yep, despite tinternet I always seem to be able to get tyres from Britannia Tyres in Hinckley cheaper than anywhere else.
Last lot were 4 Bridgestone Potenza RE720 in 195-60 x 14 for £180 fitted and balanced, which I thought pretty damn good!
