Anyone know about Alfa's?!
Before we resort to torching the bast@rd Alfa I though I'd ask you chaps.
I'm attempting to exorcise my mate's P reg Alfa Romeo GTV 2.0l 16v
He was told that the starter motor had gone and after spending thousands on various parts (including a recon head!)
you would hope that the engine is sorted now.
However, upon putting a new battery on it, she turned over (so not the starter motor then), but had no spark.
I got the master keys from him to see if re-programming the immobiliser would make a difference.
I've been on an alfa forum and got the sequence of key turns etc with the master keys.
From memory the sequence goes something like....
1. Insert red master key and turn to MAR untill CODE light comes on
2. within 10 seconds insert normal key and turn to MAR untill CODE light goes out
3. repeat with all other keys
4. Insert red key again and turn to MAR....etc
Problem is the CODE light doesn't come on at all.
If it was always on then I'm guessing that means the immobiliser is stuck on, but not coming on at all then....??
If the fact the CODE light doesn't come on means the immobiliser is off, then we still have the problem of no spark.
Any ideas before more money gets spent or it 'accidently' catches fire?!
(I hope that makes sense)
Edit: After being on the phone to various people, it would appear that it needs to go have a check up on an Alfa computer.....I think it may catch
fire before then....ooops!

That's where I found the key sequence Mook, and yes they do seem a friendly bunch!
Looks like it needs to be plugged in to the computer though.

The very sort of reason my wifes GTV had to be sold. Good looks bad reliability! 40,000 miles and the type of problems my old Focus does not have at
120,000 mile!

Torch it Torch it !
My mates just done his bottom end. they want around £400-£600 for a 2.0 16v engine on a 155.
You can get a brand new 2.3 Duratec for £800.00 go figure!
Alfa's should be scrapped - they are rubbish IMHO
Want to do a quick deal on the bottom end tho?
