Broadband Suppliers
Been with Plusnet for ages but over the last week or two it has just got ridiculous and the service is just unusable as it keeps dropping out or going
very very slow.
Anyone else use Plusnet and have similar problems and also any other recommendations because I think I am going to have to move as I can't put
up with an unrelible service.
Rich.

Pipex were very good for me but too expensive when compared. Recently switched to Tiscali - DONT.
Very unstable and they dont want to let me use usenet as it restricts speeds to about 30k/sec intimitantly. Not sure if Im being "Fair
usaged" but they claim not and its outside the 6-11pm times anyway. All in all not a happy boy, currently negotiating cancelling it as its
totally unusable for anything other than surfing.

One thing to note, are you sure it's your broadband provider at fault?
You should know that all ADSL service is provided by BT so if there is an issue with your telephone line, it could be causing your problem, and moving
to another provider will make no difference to that.
I used to be with plusnet years ago, but left promptly when they started say using the connection more that 8 hours a week was abuse.
Been with Demon since then, not the cheapest service available, but IMO one of the best. The thing I like, is they offer upto 8Mb at no additional
cost (just got my free upgrade, now got a 3Mb connection, the best my telephone line will support, I'm miles away from my local exchange)
Cheers

Certain its not the line as it was perfectly fine with Pipex and nothing has changed. I had both accounts for a week or so and was able to connect to
compare. Even with the slower pipex account, full speed was available from Usenet. With Tiscali its down to barely 30k

I'm with Onetel at the moment but I'm switching to the Sky offer because its FREE!
I was with Pipex last year which was OK but Onetel was a bit cheaper.
Had no problem with either, but 16mb from Sky will be 8x faster and 100% cheaper

I'm with onetel as well. Can't get more than a 2meg connection because of my location.
I have had no problems with speed of connection or downloads and no restrictions on usage.
Plus their tech help is a normal phone call, not a £1/min like some.
I am more than happy with what I get for my money.
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

Been with Demon for years. Just upgraded to 8M for free.
No problems with connect speed or any services.
Unlimited emails as well, which is very handy.

Yeah, pretty much all of PlusNet's customers. You should check out the support forum on the plusnet portal, it's a warzone
As someone has mentioned, PlusNet have started migrating people onto Tiscali LLU hardware with far less than adequate results. If you've
suddenly started getting an unreliable connection then chances are you've been 'upgraded', same happened to me, only way I found out
was when I complained about my suddenly pap connection. These problems aren't new, well over half of the users who have been moved have these
problems, it's so bad that PlusNet had to implement an opt-out scheme so you could choose not for this to happen to you. Of course, in true
PlusNet style they didn't actually tell any of us about this, or warn half of the users who were on the list for an 'upgrade'
(myself included).
And just to top off the whole shebang, if you do decide to migrate away from PlusNet because of this 'farcical even for PlusNet' sequence
of events, the only place you can go easily is........ Tiscali As yet there is no provision for migration off an LLU service, so you have to
physically cancel the ADSL service, wait 5 or more days after it has stopped for BT to clear the line, and then and only then will another ISP be able
to start the process of provisioning ADSL again, so probably a good two weeks offline.
I would fly off the handle at PlusNet and complain like buggery about the whole affair, but i've simply given up. I know full well that
i'm never going to get anything like an acceptable resolution from their pitiful CS team, so i'm just waiting for my line to shut down
now. Can't wait tbh, i've not had a single good experience with them at all.
