Just had a quick look at a few of the links. Some people just take things too seriously don't they?

If they want to put their lives in jeopardy for my viewing pleasure, then I say go for it. I think it's hilarious, a bit daft and perhaps a tad irresponsible here and there but hey ho! So, based on that, no we'll probably never see it again.

I could watch re runs of the amphibian cars they made all day long.

Just looked at your avatar - they didn't sell you one did they?

I think it will be back but maybe not quite as we know it!!!!

ie the BBC say it will be back "with the three still involved in presenting it"... not quite the same as "yes it will be back for more of the same"

I wouldn't lose much sleep if TG never graces the goglebox ever again. It had become too pretentious IMO. Whats that all about firing rounds of ammo into Skodas and blowing up caravans?
Bring back Wheelbase, Frank Bough and William Woolard I say!

I hope not unless it has a total facelift. Clarkson and crash boy need relocating plus ditch the stupid sofa and the celeb’s.

How did this program hit such depths?

8 million viewers, BBC2's highest audiance for 10 years. They won't cancel it lightly.

Depends what the contracts say and who owns it (Clarkson?) If he owns it and doesn't want to do another series it won't be back. Didn't he say in his column in the Sun that it won't be back?

the point is it is not a motoring program anymore. It is light enterainment and is in line with popular magazines lke 'Stuff'.

If you want sensible car reviews and commentary on bio freindly cars then you need a program about cars!

I don't watch fifth gear (because it's boring,) but I don't demand it is taken off the air - i just watch something else!

personally I love TG for what it is, a bunch of real blokes arsing about. Stuff political correctness and stuff the green hype that's just another excuse to tax us into oblivion.... lets have some harmless fun.

Come on, who wasn't impressed at their space shuttle robin reliant ?

I have read that Clarksons contract is up for renewal so this may have something to do with his stance - 8 million viewers are good for negotiation!

Personally I think it is getting a bit too scripted. When they first moved it to the hanger several years ago it was ace, but it is starting to be a bit boring and predictable.

"The latest series has regularly brought in more than seven million viewers, with the final show peaking at eight million, BBC2’s highest viewing figures for 10 years. Some critics, however, would like to see Top Gear brought to an end because of Clarkson’s controversial comments and crazy stunts. After Hammond’s return to the show following his near-fatal jet-car crash, Clarkson asked him “are you mental?”, sparking outrage among mental health organisations. It is not the only time the big-mouthed presenter has put his foot in it. He once described BMW workers as ‘Nazis’, and gave a Nazi salute on the show, while he annoyed road safety groups by saying he drives "fast and recklessly" through Lincolnshire because it is so boring. However, the BBC has always stuck by him."

what is this fcuking country coming to?

what a bunch of stupid tossers.

outrage among mental health organisations, tell em to get shafted, bunch of namby assholes. We all know what clarkson meant, he knew what he meant, they misconstrued it, so as far as I can see it is they at fault not him.

For flips sake stop the rot in this country before we all "live" wrapped in cotton wool underground with 17 lawyers like overpaid lapdogs surrounding every one of us.

It has definately changed to appeal to a wider audience.

I think its a better show for it. I dont really want to know how many mpg the new vectra will get on the motorway. When I'm in the market for a new car I buy the magazines.

In my view its by far the best thing on TV and the only thing I will make sure I watch each week. Its a comedy show with a motoring theme, surely thats the best kind.

How can you not laugh at them trying to send a Robin Reliant into orbit, or making their own stretch limos. Its just great watching them obviously having such a ball making the programs. Its like when you used to mess about as kids making stuff, but on a bigger scale!

They dont seem to care what the health and safety officers may be telling them, some of the stuff they have done as been pretty dangerous (hamster rolling the van or clarkson rolling the toybota). That and the fact they are obviously trying not to be PC is great!

the show kicks ass. I love the way clarkson tells blatent fibs - like 'this car is so economical, that as it drives though poluted cities it actually produces exhaust that is cleaner than the air it sucked in'
