Engine purchase problems
I sent a cheque to an outfit called Selectaengine(totalengines).
North of Cambridge, they promised me the engine and so far i have received nothing,
All I get is excuses and its been almost seven weeks.
Has anybody dealt with them or know of them?
I dont know if their a big set up or a one man band.
I got a quote from them from the web site
Findanengine.co uk .
It must contact lots of breakers and then foward your details.
Haven't blown a top yet but I,m getting close.

Get in touch with trading standards or CAB for advice what to do next.
I suspect they have a letter template you can fill in and send off.
Not much help, but all I can suggest at the mo.

Hvae you had any communication with them since cashing your cheque?
I would give them the choice to either send the engine as agreed or refund the cash, otherwise I would contact; Trading Standards and possibly the
Police.
Seven weeks is taking the mickey a bit IMHO.
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

No Goods
Suggestions:
1) Try to find out who is the head honcho and speak to him.
2) Find out if they belong to a trade association, they may assist you.
3) Send them a letter by recorded delivery saying that if you have not had the goods or a refund within, say 10 days, you will begin a Small Claims
action against them.
Good Luck

Is it the same as http://www.totalengine.co.uk?
If so that's where I got my engine from about 2 years ago. Took about 3 or 4 weeks in total

Though the current message on the website isn't exactly the most comforting right now.
Where North of Cambridge are they?

Just tried their Web site, and thats down??? As stated above send them a letter by recorded delivery, as said by Mal. Hope it all comes good in the
end. Ray
To make a car go faster, just add lightness. Colin Chapman - OR - fit a bigger engine. Chippy

Hi a quick search finds.
Company Name THE TOTAL ENGINE COMPANY LIMITED
Company Address 2 ADVENTURE PLACE, HANLEY, STOKE ON TRENT, ST1 3AF, ST1 3AF
Company Reg No. 04974961
Company Status In Liquidation
the above is obviously not the same company you have dealt with due to location.
But there is no listing any where for either selectaengine or totalengines.
I think a trip to the bank is in order to find where the money has gone to.
cheers matt

Thanks for your responses.
I have made enquiries with trading standards, OFT and consumer direct, very helpfull.
I have sent them a couple of emails regarding my intentions.
The only problem I have is trying to get a correct address. the cheque was sent to an individual (owner i think) and not sure if its the right address
for the company.
I reaise now that i was a bit naive but its mistake i won't make again.
I am now reluctant to pay anything by cheque and will try to use credit card in future.
This whole thing just pisses me off as i'm old school and tend to believe people when they tell me something.
I just destroys your faith.
Anyhow, i wont give up.

Had some succes today and located a correct address .
Total Engines UK
16-18
MBJ Buisness Park
Kenny Hill
Bury St Edmunds
Suffolk
IP28 8DS
All I can say is "dont shop there".
Not Cambridge after all but about 25miles NE
I will have to send a letter informing them of claim through small claims court.
