Sky-fi Film Name Please ?????

Does anyone remember a film - early 90's I think - where a bloke stole some martian sand from wherever he worked and had a big glass tank in his garden shed with some of the sand in.

The sand had two rival martian "ant" things in it that made structures and replicated things dropped in like the blokes dog when it jumped in.

Anyone remember it or know what it's called?

Thanks,

Pat...

I remember this film too.....

Not that that helps. Can't recall the title either but I don't think it was a comedy. Pretty sure S Martin wasn't in it.

Hmmm.....

Is that the film with the bit where the creature is crawling up the inside of the mans skin heading for his old chap then then some greatest film lines of all time

"Dont take the leg"
"Its heading for his dick"
"take the leg! take the leg!"

"We'll go in through the anus, no time for lube"
"There's always time for lube"

Evolution was the film

I remember an episode of "the outer limits" which sounds identical to your description. the two colonies of ants develop from mere nests to miniature civilisations which war and worship him as a god.

Sandkings, Its a short story in the book "Songs that Dead Men Sing" ( I think Its songs at the start of the title).

IIRC the story is by Stephen King. It also appeared as an episode of the Outer Limits.

Ah beaten to it
