Aahh that hurt again!
Has anyone had this problem, I have my I-pod connected to the work computer on charge as usual but recently I have been getting electrocuted from the
ear phones!!!! It’s like a painful static discharge right in the ear, just when I’m typing away (not rubbing my feet on carpet). I’m not sure what to
do, maybe put a wire from the casing of the computer to back of the I-pod. Is anyone else have this problem???

Unless you have a serious problem with your PC or the local supply, i.e. disconnected/floating ground, the only way this can happen is static build up
on you discharging through the headphones through the Ipod and then through the USB cable to ground.
You could try an anti-static wrist strap connected to chassis of your PC if it's really annoying you, or another way to help static discharge is
to take your shoes off so your are grounded. You fellow office workers might not appreciate that though

it's really painful and I don't see how I can be building up a charge though they are not the orginal head phones and are mosty made of
ally. The computers here are checked though this ones last done in 2005 
I might have to switch back to the rubbish standard headphones, sigh. If I wore a static wrist band I know what would happen...I'd forget about
it and drag the computer of the desk!

I've had this on the treadmill in the gym - I accidentally put my earphones through the wash and the next time I went (despite drying them out
thoroughly) I kept getting belts right through my head.
Really not a pleasant experience. Needless to say, the earphones went in the bin in favour of a new set.

oh well looks like I'm not alone and the headphones are the cause, pity as there quite powerful. cheers.

I have to wear a wrist strap at work and you don't drag the computer off the desk you just walk about 10 feet then the end unplugs and hurtles
towards you at mach 1. Now that hurts You could always try a pair of heal grounding straps
In case you are interested the static shocks you are getting could be around 30,000 volts.

My cars tend to be even louder and I have lost half my hearing in my right ear from side exhausts  oops!
My dad has tinitus, not nice and apparently rather loud aswell.
