Marcos Martina

I stumbled across this car on Pistonheads:

Martina

and wondered about a few things:

1) would it be feasible to use as an everyday car?

2) To how much trouble would I need to go to get a replacement bonnet for it?

3) What does Cat-C mean? I'm Dutch, so don't know anything about these (presumably insurance related) codes.

4) does anyone on here own one? What are they like to live with?

Cheers,
Sebastiaan

Cat-C means written off on cost grounds only --- eg light damage but cost of parts and labour exceed what the insurance company want to pay. However check carefully for damage the insurance company may have missed.

Marcos have been building cars that shape for more than 40 years they have an active owners club for spares see http://www.marcos-oc.com/links.asp />

I'd iamgine that even a TVR would be more reliable as a daily runner too!

If its been built well i cant imagine it being any less reliable than any other kit car. There will always be little bits to do but it looks like a nice car. Bonnet and rad might be easy repair. i guess the screen will be harder to come by.

Looks cheap to me. As long as impact was light and no chassis damage it should be OK. Just needs good inspection as you would do for a non-acident damaged kit car anyway.

looks quite nice if a bit dated now. always suspicious of damaged cars for sale where the pics don't show you the full extent of the damage!

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I think this was a re-incarnation using the name only.

The moulds for the old kit cars are with someone else.
