Solid Edge Help

I've got a copy of solid edge v14 (acedemic copy), all installed ok. When I started going through the tutorials I came across a problem in both the part and sheet metal modelling functions. Once you have created the 2D profile in either and clicked finish to go back to the isometric view it gives you the message 'solid edge is terminating.' It says that its pumped out a log file but it doesn't appear to exist at the path it states.
Has anyone got any ideas before I give up!?

Cheers
Andy

Seems that it doesn't like to run on Vista, just tried on Xp and all is fine.

Have had this legit copy lying around for a while and never installed it until now, hence the slightly 'mature' version.
