Online road tax, beware..
I started to use the DVLA online road tax facility to tax the bike last night, been on sorn for a couple of months, It being the 31st March, and as
it takes up to 5 days for the tax disc to arrive, I thought start date would be 1st April, but no, it tried to start my tax at 1st March, and
wouldn't let me change it.
Needless to say I din't continue, but as many cars on here will be laid up for winter, its one to be wary of.
Now the technician in me would like to think this is bad design of the website, the synic would think its DVLA / Gov trying to rip me off for a months
worth of tax.
Rgds.
Pete.

If you tax online on the 31st Mach then you could drive it on the 31st march therefor the car needs tax for March.
Does actually make sense. BUT a pain if you dont notice.
Paul
When renewing tax it takes into acount the end date of the old disc.

If I online tax on 31st march, and drive, I would still be guilty of failure to display a valid tax disc.
Agree with you if I do it at an outlet and get a disc immediately.

100% correct. The police tried to do me for this last year along with driving a vehicle without a valid MOT. The car was on a SORN and on its way home
from a prebooked MOT test at the time but they still tried. Needless to say when I got to the magistrates court and showed the relevant regulations to
the CPS lawyer she told the magistrates that she was presenting no evidence so no case to answer.
Another great use of taxpayers money that one!!!

was but i had no problems
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Taxing
It does state you can tax the vehicle 2 days prior to the start of the new month.
But it would not let me do this for the 1st April on the 30th March.
I to had to wait until the 1st April to tax my vehicle.
You could still be liable for not displaying the tax disc!
