Un-insured immigrants make my blood boil!
My brother, his wife and 12 year old niece have come up from the coast to Mitcham to see us. This is a rare event because who wants to leave the coast
to come up to london?
Anyway, on their way home a drunk immigrant (eastern european) has pulled out on them and hit their car.
They called me on the mobile and I dashed out to see if I could help. As I got there the b*stard is driving off.
By the time I got back in my car my brother had driven after them.
The police were called and it turns out that the car is registered to a flat in Croydon, but the car has no insurance/mot/tax etc.
The police basically said that they would give it a few more minutes waiting at the address before they give up! What a joke!
If you are in the mitcham/croydon area and come across a dark blue or black Renault clio tonight being driven by a 20 year old wearing a biege
baseball cap, keep clear.

do you know where the flat is?
Surely a group meeting round his house with some persuasive bits of wood would this this right?

Mate any uninsured driver makes my blood boil! You'd be surprised at how many there are (or at least I am) The traffic patrols at work just sit
there and ping loads every week. I think they should take the car away and crush it and prosecute as conspiring to manslaughter or summat like that.
Just summat that really pees me off

The police won't release that info, but what are the chances that the car is even registered to the owner?

I only know that when I nip into the station for my hours dinner I end up looking at 3-4 people with seizure notices. Thats just 1 hour in 1 day so
you can work that out. All walks of life, all ages its quite surprising really.

In the area of Bradford I used to live in, the percentage of uninsured cars is
57.3 per cent and TBH I reckon
that's erring on the side of caution...

What is amazing is that the police did not wait to catch him. It turns out that they were at the right address for the registered keeper.
How they got him was another motorist found him asleep in his car in the middle of a junction and reported it!
Otherwise, he would have got away with it.

Yeh in BD3 I think its even Higher than that!.
Why don't the DVLA or insurance or whoever just stroll down the road with the Police and seize them.. give them 7 days to produce or pay up and
then if not crush them.
Surely with the combined insurance and Tax databases and the police numberplate reading thingy it would be so easy!.
They could even take those off speeding duties to help perform the clen-up.

Whats the average cost of car insurance? About £300 ish per year?
Whats the fine if you get caught without insurance? I guess about £150 and 3 points?
No brainer for some people. And the points don't make a difference as they don't insure their cars anyway.

6 - 8 points and generally a minimum of £200 (fixed penalty).
Agreed with the above - they go to all this trouble to have a database and then dont seem to use it. Police probably darent use it in Bradford as they
would no doubt be accused of racism!!

until recently i was paying £1000 insurance! that's fully comp on a 1.6 fiesta with a turbo fitted, no points no claims. when you stack that
up against a £150 fine or a ban (how's that work for people caught driving without a license, they obviously don't care) it's not
that suprising some people choose to take the risk the penaltys should be much higher, maybe double the average insurance quote for that specific
person?!?

Hopefully they will crush the car too.
It didn't look like an old banger so hopefully there is another grand out of his pocket.

But according to our informed and wise government these immigrants benefit our society and economy.
IMO his car should be crushed and he deported!! no questions, minimal cost!

I dont think they should crush the car.
- Espcially if its a nice enough motor, or a sierra.
- They should be collect, and sold at auction.
imo

For younger people probably 3-6 times that amount.

I was hit by uninsured driver. Didnt know that at the time but something wasnt right when he tried to give me details. I phoned police - they turned
up quite quickly and arrested him Thats when i knew what was up. I was quite surprised he didnt drive off when i started to phone police but id
already taken photos with him near his car and 'cos my young daughters were in the car i jumped out and gave him a right mouthful - i think he
thought i was going to hit him (anyone who knows me will know that would never happen).
So yeah - i hate them too. Imquite chuffed the Police now have that recognition camera stuff - its amazing how many people they pull round our way
when they are set up.

What do my views on muslims have to do with anything?
Fact is, this guy has caused pain, damage misery, cost, and complete inconvenience to an innocent law abiding motorist, he will now go on to cost the
state more to process him through the legal system.
Watch any documentay on these No Plate Recognition systems, and then tell us what percentage of insurance/tax/license offenders are British or 2nd /
3rd generation immigrant.

The difference is that they are more likely to get away with it by simply going back to their home country.
Accountability is the real issue and it would seem that there is very little done about it by our police and government.

We have quite a few "migrant" workers round our way went home and brought their cars back over here..
but dont register them over here still driving around on polish plates know 1 beemer for well over 2 years..
so how can they be taxed moted or insured if car isnt registered as being in uk

Nah if a migrant is caught with no insurance, their car is seized under section 165 just like any other persons vehicle and if they are suspected of
going to do a flit, like a wagon driver happened to mention once then they are locked up.

But because their cars aren't registered here, doesn't that mean that the police's automatic number plate thingy will not show them
up in the first place?
