Speaking as someone who got a scamera tax demand through the post from the middle of no where except 3 sheep I have no problem with any sort of
cameras around schools, that is where they should be ?
I'm currently in the States and yesterday drove into work at school run time, no one but no one even thinks about passing a school bus when its
stood and everyone observes the lower limits in place around schools. That to me is sensible law enforcement rather then picking cash generating spots
like we do ?

was thinking the other day, that the "lollipop signs" (hand held stop signs) have not moved with the times.....how about some red LED
flashing lights that come on by pushing a button that warns drivers to stop instead of them (the very nice lady's) jumping out.....the centre of
the stop sign could have a message board saying "thank you" just before they walk off the road......

I was told that the black bar on the sign was infact for the lollipop lady to write the reg number of offending cars on and that they have a stick of
chalk in their pockets for that purpose
Don't know if it is true.

legally the lollipop has the same meaning as a red light... do we complain about red light cameras?

I understand there are laws around passing stationary school busses in the states, I was told it is a definate no no when I was over there a couple of
years back.... Over here its double park the 6ft high 4x4's then try and cross the 3ft6 school children between them....

I can understand why some lollipop ladies get 'abused'. We have one in particular in Rushden who really does need to get a grip on the
realities of life.
Now don't get me wrong these ladies (and sometimes gentlemen) do a sterling job and it is a shame that we need them. However not all motorists
are that thoughtful around schools.
How ever they are or should be there to control BOTH the vehicles AND the pedestrians. These people need to reinforce to the children that you do not
just walk up to the road and go straight across. This crossing person near me gives carte blanche to the the pedestrians to such an extent that she
regularly creates traffic cues of nearly a mile in each direction. Spending nearly an hour to travel a mile along a side road is not funny. The
alternative is a 4 mile diversion. There are 6 other lollipop ladies around Rushden, three of them on main roads and they don't have the traffic
problems that this one creates. Oh and the other ladies also contrlol/ tell the pedestrians when they can and can't cross.
Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

Every morning I have to go over a crossing with a nice old biddy in charge. She seems to be doing a fine job - except she keeps stopping the traffic
with her stick and hands raised high to let me across - I'm about a foot taller than her and it's embarrasing!
