I wonder if most house insurances cover mixing your own fuels?

There is a legal limit as to how much fuel can be stored at private properties, Insurers will probably get oout under that.

hmm but does it cover making it? for example legally I could store quite a lot of petrol but if I set up my own refinery in the kitchen and blew the
house to smithereens in the process it's not really the same thing as storing it and I would be very surprised if the insurance company paid up.
In the old days I knew folk who made their own fuel for model planes, one of the constituents was nitromethane i.e rocket fuel which when mixed
incorrectly became shock sensitive! They gave the whole thing a miss when I was realised that house cover don’t cover such dodgy hobbies.

I guess the one reccomendation from this thread is not to test your insurance cover by making and igniting your own fuel of any kind.

It’s against the law to store more than
20 litres of petrol in two 10 litre metal
containers, or 10 litres in two 5 litre
plastic containers.
All containers must be designed for the
purpose and they must be marked
‘PETROLEUM’ and ‘HIGHLY FLAMMABLE’.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
