Porsche 944S 16 valve - silly cambelt driving one cam, then shitty separate chain + tensioner driving other cam. Tensioner and chain wears out, sprockets are integral with cams, either the chain breaks - valves hit pistons and car is scrapped because repairs are so hideously expensive or you catch it in time and have to replace both cams. Silly oil/water heat exchanger with leaky seals = mayonnaise in coolant and oil system. Rip-off from Mitsubishi balance shaft system meaning even more belts to replace at a service. Avoid, avoid, AVOID!

Nowt wrong with the ford v6.......looks all wrong on paper but in reality one of the "best" engines they ever used.

Sierra and granada v6 2.8's got the dubious reputation in the trade of being self clocking because of the combination of this engine and a 5 digit odometer, seemed that Ford underestimated the reliability, and dealers could throw the history in the bin and claim it was on the first lap of the odo when it was on the second or third.

Record goes to a mate who managed last year to go past 375,000 miles on an original, untouched 2.8i engine in a granada, used daily for pulling a car trailer up and down the country.................................
can't criticise that in my book, I love em!
