Started to snow in South Durham area about 9am today. Anything less than 2 feet shouldnt affect us Northerners. I bet the Cockneys south of leeds will
be panic buying now
mind you i have a 3 series tourer so anything more than 50 microns should render it useless (again!)

When i was a kid we used to get a good 8 - 14" a couple times a year and it would last a week and we got on with life. These days if you see 1
snow flake the whole country goes into turmoil!

I love the snow, even got in a few lairy slides in my shitty kangoo van (only time it'll go sideways)
You couldn't pwn your way out of a wet paper bag, with "PWN ME!!" written on it, from the "pwned take-away" which originally contained one
portion of chicken tikka pwnsala and the obligatory free pwnpadom.

If you read the BBC website (LINKY) you'd think that the Ice Age had started. "Shock
Horror! 4 inches of snow has fallen! We're all doomed!".
Good grief...

Wasn't snowing in Kings Lynn when I set out this morning, but was by the time the train got to Downham Mkt. About a half inch in North
Cambridge.
Wish me luck, I'm on bus+train back to Newcastle tonight No doubt it will completely fail to alter the atire of the young ladies at
Newcastle central station when I arrive.
My companies vpn has maxed out with all the 'Lahndahnas' working from home, so it must be really bad down there
<ol'git> I remember when they had to send food to farmers using helicopters, proper 6ft snowmen, schools shut for a week or two. Yet now
one day of frankly moderate snow shuts the country down! </ol'git>

A month or so ago some of the mid-west states in the USA declared a state of emergency - trees and power lines brought down by the weight of snow,
cattle dying of the cold, people dying for various reasons - THAT'S bad weather, not the sprinkle we've had today.

about 4" this morning in Evesham - still snowing at midday! My Vectra estate turned into a drift machine (no pun intended!) - loving it. Got a
bit hairy when a lorry started sliding towards me on my way to work...!

"A spokesman for the Local Government Association said the primary concern was the safety of the children.
"If parents feel they don't want to compromise that by getting into the car or by walking on ice, that's fine," he
said."
But I bet they let them go a play in the snow!
The school over the road is closed and all the local kids are in the park gang snow balling people. We gave it our best effort to fight back but there
was about 50 of them!
The whole of the Oxford seems to be in southpark, from people snowboarding and building ramps, to people going down the hill on car bonnets!
Love it!

I wish I was back at Oxford now, it's snowing here, just north-east of King's Lynn, been snowing since about 10ish, but none of it's
settled. I thought I was going to be able to overtake everyone on the way home in my landy.

Hmm, Geordie girls idea of "wrapping up warm".
I remember queuing to get into a bar one New Years Eve on the Quayside, 4" of slush on the floor, almost complete white out blizzard, and the
girl in front of me was wearing a tiny slip dress, high heels and nothing else. Her toes were sticking out the front of her shoes into snow!
Happy days.

Started at about 5.30 this morning, probably 2" by 8.00 in Hinckley, too much for a 140 mile trip to the big smoke though. Bad enough doing the
10 miles up to Coalville today with some scared drivers doing 10mph Stay at home I say!!!

5" or so here near Banbury. Spent a good afternoon sledging and generally prating about. No major hassle really, and it makes driving the works
van exciting! Just leave the handbrake on a few notches and away you go!
