My cousin was in the same postion about 7 years ago, he walked and setup on his own and hasn't looked back, works bloody hard, but gets all the
rewards
I'm an IT contractor and the rewards are great, but I don't have job security or paid for being sick etc. But Job security does not exist
anymore for anyone, unfortunalty

You are right about the lack of job security, but a lot of paye people are under the illusion that they are, hence the bomb shell when it happens.
I just make my money where I can and plan for the un-expected.
I still enjoy building cars (one being built and one in the garage completed but going through winter mods!) and we still take long holidays. We are
going to Florida for 3 weeks this year!
I don't get holiday pay but I budget my income.
You have to be more disciplined when you are self employed, but think of it this way, your wages are divided for you by an employer or you can do
that yourself and pay yourself holiday pay.

I set up a company in March 2007 and I't fine so far, should have done it years ago! suspect you should do the same ! Obviously the works out
there as your doing it! you just have to contact every client you have ever worked for and anyone you may think needs your services let them now you
available and prove your good value and as reliable as sin each time they use you!
Good luck! Tom
