Camcorders format types, whats that all about then?

Me and herself are off to Tenerife very soon, yes there will be silence from me for once but don’t party too much

Anyway I was going to take a camcorder but have been told my old Hi8 one is far too big and rubbish that I need to get a new one. Hmm great time of year to be spending money on things like that and I don’t think

Although I fully understand the old one it seems that things have changed and there are many disk type cameras and all sorts of funny stuff. Seeing that the age of the video recorder is now dead I suppose I need to use the computer now and burn DVD’s or something?! Eh? Flippin heck I can manage to copy a CD not sure about editing a movie and stuff all sounds a bit scary and I gave up in the shops cos it all didn’t make much sense (cameras are tiny now! My old one weights about 2kg )

Could anyone recommend a format type that’s easy to use, don’t need HD stuff, smallish kind of thing but not full size CD’s in it etc. Probably get nowhere and end up using the phone!

Cheers

Hi Mate

I know you said what format, but can I recommend the Sanyo Xacti CA65 Waterproof SD

I bought one last year, and for ease of use size I find it fantastic.
Main thing for me is it's waterproof.
I have used it in the swimming pool and canoeing, and get great results.
Cost about 150 sovs

Great thanks David

That sounds just what I'm after really and I have a couple of 8GB SD cards anyway. Certainly seems to have got very good reviews and I'm going in the water even though she's to scared so this will be perfect. It’s Thursday late night shopping so I think I’ll go and get one.

Cheers

cheers,

dogwood,

You're making me spend money here!

Just looking at that SD based camera and now found the HD version of it that would go nicely with my new HD LCD screen.

Trackdays in high def - sweet!

AR5E! Just missed out on a cheap HD one. GAH!

Glad I was of some help.

I posted this on youtube, just to see how to do it.
Not a great vid, but shows the results I got just hand held on my quad.
I thought it was Ok

I clubbed together with siblings and bought one of these for my dads birthday, and so far it's proved perfect for his needs. Nice and light, very decent optical zoom and image stabilisation, and will record 7 hours on the hard drive at best quality, or up to 37hours at lower quality. Will also take micro SD cards.

It's not Hi Def, but will take 4:3 or 19:9 format pictures.
