Don't want to sound precious, but I recall you being quite vociferous about the (allegedly) offensive nature of some avatars. Now here you are posting a questionable link... ?

PS - I appreciate that the magazine front is trying to be satirical in relation to its readership, but there are bound to be gay locost builders and I'm guessing that some will find the phrases "going up the chocolate highway", "pound that ass", "fudge packing" and "you could have these buttocks" offensive in the manner portrayed.

You can't have it both ways John!

LMAO (last quote that is - not the mag ad).

Maybe a NWS tag on the title would be advisable though.

Not wanting to cause any offence to our gay members, I have removed the image (which can be found in the current Sniff Petrol)

I don't know who the gay members are, though it may be interesting to search threads on colours etc

Your hypocrisy is incredible John! You really don't do yourself any favours... ! I also recall you having a go at 'keyboard warriors' and bullies recently!!!

So what we have here is someone who has a problem with the laddish use of a little female flesh in avatars, but is quick to indulge in childish (and ill-informed) innuendo relating to homosexuals.

Then when challenged, you then come out with gems like it be 'interesting' to search threads on colours... why? Are you hoping that by inserting the word 'pink' (venturing a guess at how your mind works) into the search engine then you will manage to out all the gays on the forum... what for... and what next?

Just for the record - I'm a happily married man... ! The only point of raising this is to highlight the possibility that if I have a problem with some of your drivel then what about those who ARE more closely related to the subject matter?

I find it surprising that someone advertising on the site for business would get themselves involved in such contentious issues.

Actually I might have said something about the use of avatars featuring females with obviously artificially enlarged breasts, but my main complaint was with the avatar that pokes fun at a person falling through an open trap door.

Now that you have pointed it out I reckon I probably have alienated the gay portion of the LCB readership, and will have to see if I can redeem my self in some way.

Incidentally, why did you feel the need to pont out that you were happily married? What had that got to do with anything?

John

John... get a grip of yourself mate! I stated VERY clearly in my post why I made reference to that (and fine you know it!).

Entirely your choice, but I would suggest that you wind your neck in a little!

No you didn't. The points you made were not in any way affected by your statement that you were happily married. That information could (and some might say, should) have been left out. It had no bearing on the matter whatsoever.

If you are going to defend somebody, you should not incorporate into that defence a way of distancing yourself from them.

Did you see the Kevin Kline film In and Out? May I refer you to the big scene at the end?

John

Read that particular paragraph again John. I've not edited it... you can check.

Does that not state why I raised that point??? I thought very clearly about including it, and I've used it to make (IMHO) a valid point.

PS - I've no idea what happens in the film you allude to and frankly, I'm not interested.

It's a shame you haven't seen that film, but let me explain why I mentioned it.

The whole point of your attack on me in this thread is to support those LCBers who may be homosexual. However, your suport is not whole-hearted. as I said above, in a point that you haven't yet answered, you are distancing yourself from the LCB gay community quite unnecessarily. There was no need for it. It doesn't make any difference to your argument. No one. least of all me, is going to jump and say Scootz must be gay.

The point of the final big scene in the film I mentioned is that it shows that if you are going to speak in support of someone then it's no good at all to say, in effect "I'm speaking up for them, they're nothing to do with me but I'm speaking up for them anyway"

Now I'm going to suggest that this thread has gone a long way off topic, and that the Sniff Petrol webzine (is that the right word) is still a very good read for anyone who is interested in motoring matters, and likes the satirical approach.

Well that made amusing reading.

1. Sniff petrol is hilariously funny, if a little bit OTT sometimes.

2. Loooong before you arrived on the scene Mr H, there were 2 (if memory serves me correctly) openly bi guys on here (have a search for a thread titled 'sexuality), both of whom seem to have disppeared off the boards for some reason. I am sure there are probably more too, but hey each to their own, right?

John,

First things first... stop trying to twist things to make you look like the victim. I'm not attacking you... I'm just having the courage of my convictions to speak up when I think that something isn't right (and will continue to do so if required!). I'm not 'pro' or 'anti' anything. I judge every human being on the way I find them and detest any form of group exclusion just because that group is 'different' to the stereotypical 'norm'.

I couldn't care less if you think I'm straight, gay or something in-between. I am who I am, and I'm very comfortable with that (thanks very much!).

Nor do I care that you conveniently continue to ignore the fact that I explained in glorious technicolour why I chose to state that I was heterosexual (despite your childish protestations to the contrary).

Yes - Sniff Petrol can be very funny. Sometimes it's complete crap! I do see the satirical nature of the 'magazine' article, but I found the wording of the 'magazine features' to be grossly offensive. It could have been a very clever satirical statement about the readership - instead it chose to concentrate (crudely) on the intercourse aspect of homosexuality. Well I don't have sex 24 hrs a day and doubt many others out there do either. So why define this group so disgustingly shallowly just because of a very minor aspect of their life? That's the sort of thing ignoramuses and children do.

I just don't think that a website such as this (LCB) is the place to host an image that some may find offensive. Particularly when the culprit is someone so opinionated on other issues of what is, or is not acceptable on the website.

I've said what I wanted to say on the subject and despite having previously been confused by the on-line enigma that is 'Mr Henderson' (very helpful on the Locost front, but provocatively questionable on non-LCB related matters), I've established that your opinion on social issues is not one I value.

Nothing more to add really.

It seems to me that you are determined to win this argument which is only inside your own head. I concede- fill your boots!

I also am tired of explaining to you what is wrong with supporting a group of people whilst at the same time distancing yourself from them, showing in doing so that you are displaying the same homo-phobic tendencies that you would like to accuse me of.

I also think there is nothing more to be said (possibly apart from the fact that calling somebody a hypocrite would usually be considered an attack)

John
