I'm currently teaching a 9 year old clarinet AND alto sax.........

I give him homework for both.....

Currently practising Christmas Carols so he can give his family a recital on Christmas eve!

His little 5 year old brother now wants to join in......he is getting a recorder for Christmas...... from me! LOL

It IS great when you can teach them to be noisy and then send them home to show their parents/sister/brother what they have learnt this week!

By the way, those little ear plugs we use for racing, are pretty good....

My missus plays clarinet and cello and is really good on both but she's wound me up recently as she bought a new clarinet 9 months ago and has played it twice - it cost a sodding fortune!! - GRRR

I love reading about the problems people have with their children. Really sets off my schadenfreude. I must try harder to resist

When my brother was 13 he came home after a glass of neat gin and had been out riding all day...... needless to say parents were not amused.

Mine are practicing keyboard players / singers. Don't tell them, but I quite like listening to them practice, tbh. We have a laugh and join in.

Besides, as an "improving" guitarist (aka not very good), I'd be prime target for whatever hassle I gave them...

Confess I'm not looking forward to the possibility of having to introduce Mr Baseball Bat to any dodgy bloke they brought home, though.

It's threads like this that remind me why I don't have kids yet. That and the fact that I'm young enough for some on here to be my dad. Hell, some are old enough to be my grand dad!

We're waitin for the oldest daughter to get big enough to hold a decent guitar so she can learn.. But has expressed an interest in drums so we're getting her the new guitar hero kit to see if she picks that up and then decide weather to get a guitar or drum kit next year!!!

but then I've 2 basses, a lead guitar in the living room along with my " oh thats big enough not to need to go through the P.A." bass amp and then theres also the jackson flying vee in the bed room!!!!

Good thing next door are family

Trust me a recorder is nothing...

Wait till they start bringing boys home!

Of course the best fun is when they bring a male teacher home!

Luxury for all you folks who have one or two kids who play "musical" instruments!!
My other half is a strings teacher and I have to endure her pupils every evening!!! And my three year old son has his own violin (Twinkle Twinkle little star was cute for the first few weeks...)
Plus I've got the added pain of scrimping and saving to pay the bills whilst Miss Owelly has a £20k violin and a £2k bow sat in a case......!!! Fekin musicians....

Yup, granddaughter has taken up the trumpet, and has to practise every evening. And in the morning when she sayed with us, over a long weekend.

Happily, she's now gone back home, and I can have a quiet lie-in, without being disturbed around 6:00am!!

Work-in-Progress: Changed to Zetec + T9. Still trying!!
