Maybe, but if they change the points system as currently suggested the 3 races per engine will lead to anyone in 5th place or worse and a lap down on the 3rd position just parking up or setting the rev limiter to 7k.

Can't see the point in any of the lesser teams even driving to the start line (beyond being car shaped billboards).

If they want to encourage racing for first, but still give the lesser teams some points, just change the points awarded to first! Instead of 10 for 1st and 8 for 2nd, make it 16 for 1st but leave the rest as is.

If the are going to change it to encourage the fight for the lead then let them fight.

whatever happened to "a racing incident" then people with the balls to fight will win those that dont won't

I think age and perhaps impending divorce has finally got to Mr Ecclescake. There aren't enough teams in F1 now and with his latest brainwave there is nothing in it for anyone outside of the top 4 teams. A bigger gap in pts between 1st 2nd and 3rd would have been enough. If it's do or die for the win it'll give them more excuses to take points off Hamilton.
As for the KERS system it hardly helps teams cut costs and is irrelevent for road cars. Imagine in ten years time having to fit this crap to our locosts.

KERS is not irrelevent in road cars. It will drive development for adding to road cars.

I think they should also have a number of points for fastest lap and maybe even some points for qualifying first.

means people are going to keep racing all the way through the session & it gives teams like force india a chance of getting pole and benefiting (then imagine the racing as everyone tries to get past).
