Depending on dealer. But they normally have a 2k margin against the car. However the cheaper the car obviously this would be reduced. The 2k won't be all profit. They will need to pay salesman commission, re-conditioning on the car, service, warranty and then they need to make a profit. You should chance your arm and go in strong by asking alot off, say a thousand, and eventually there will be a point where they will have to let you walk. At that point you know that you have got the best deal.

Don't forget to hpi the car before you buy it. The only thing i would say is that if it does come back as having finance outstanding, if it is only for say three months or so it will probably be their unit stocking and nothing to worry about.

Good Luck.

Pete.

I was offered 3.5K trade in, 2001 IS200 sport with 60,000 on the clock, one owner full Lexus history etc..... No suprise I'm still driving and enjoying it.

You do need to spin them to get the performance, you'll struggle to better 28 MPG overall, and £400+ road tax next year. But still a quality well build car....

SWMBO has the IS300LE, that is awesome.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again, there are many reasons why people buy cars from dealers, but no good reasons.

Forget the warranty, for a start. Even if they do honour it, which is by no means certain, you'll already have paid for it anyway.

If you know what you want, go to the auctions if you are feeling a bit brave/confident, or buy privately

John
