New Toy
Just bought my self a road rally 205 GTi mi16 to hill climb next season
OMG its like a gocart with rockets. (I haven't driven my 7 yet)
I had 80 miles of B-roads on the way home too, I was smiling when I arrived at the house
Only complaint is the gearing, 1 seems really short and 2 seems way too long.
Its like someone lets a bomb off at 5000 revs though.
Thanks for all the advice on which hill climb car to get and to think I was gonna buy a Metro

Hello
What gearbox has it got fitted?
You really need the 1.6 GTI box to get it near right.
Bolts straight on

What gearbox has it got? The 1.6 GTi box is a far better option than the 1.9 for the ratios and final drive.
A friend is in the process of converting his mi16 powered 205 to use the iron block and crank from the XUD diesel engine (along with new forged
pistons and rods, many ££££). It was producing just shy of 270 bhp, but the flimsy alloy block was flexing like a yoga instructor (you wouldn't
believe just how light they are!).
Since the XUD has a shorter stroke and the crank is stronger he's hoping for quite a bit of extra power as it was still climbing when he reached
the 8250 RPM limit on the old engine. It will be 25-30kg heavier though.
ETA: Damn, spent far too long typing this, the post above wasn't there when I started!

mi16
HI, your going to need to mount the crank position sensor onto the 1.6 box as its not on it as with the 1.9.
I ran a 205 mi16 with a 1.9 then changed to a 1.6 but had to drill and tap the 1.6 box to accept the sensor.
