mondeo bonnet lock
A friend of mine has a mondeo that went for an MOT, except the station phoned up saying they couldn't open the bonnet as the lock is jammed or
broken. They'd been on the phone to Ford who said they had to break the grille to get it off and a new one would be £180. MOT station refused
to do this.
Does anyone know how to open the bonnet of a mondeo other than by using the key in the bonnet lock?

My folks had this problem (well a variant of - its a way into the car if you lock the keys in!)
The AA man drilled out the rivets either side of the lock behind the badge and got into the engine bay like that.
Only saw it once repaired so not exactly sure where you drill but that was one approach anyway.

Has he got a spare key? If so try that first as the other will have worn (as will the ignition) but the bonnet lock won't be worn to match.
Often works but not always. After that start drilling.
Which genius decided that putting a loch on the front was a good idea? They're a problem on most higher milage Fords we get in at work.

A Scot? My brother has a focus ST with the same arrangement. He didn't realise there was a key lock on it. It took the brains of the family
to work it out for him
I'll tell the guy about the spare key. Even as a long shot, it's worth a go to save time, agro and cash.

just ram a screwdriver into the lock and turn it. worked on my c-max donor car. it will require a lock rebuild kit (available off ebay cheaply) but
wont damage gril.

Before doing anything drastic try a squirt of WD40 in and around the lock
