v8 discovery clutch
are there any Landy experts out there??
I need to change my clutch on my v8 discovery, what sort of time should i expect it to take?
any advice appreciated!

Oh there are definately some out there, I am indebted to them for solving my disco woes!
Not done the job myself although look fairly easy to get to underneath...?

very straight forward as clutches go. just be aware, the gearbox is very heavy. I changed mine in a Defender in the best part of a day.
You need to remove the floor in the defender, not the case in a Disco.
I would recomend changing the clutch release arm also. These wear on the pivot ball, I'd hate to do all this work and the release arm fail next
week....

i heard somewhere you can disconnect g box and slide it back on crossmember with just enough room to replace clutch

Just like a car but heavier with an extra prop to drop off.
Do it from below, you may need something to spread the chassis to drop the crossmember, small bottle jack and lump of wood.
The gearboxes are heavy but with care you can balance on a trolley jack and roll back enough to pull the clutch off, If it falls off the trolley jack
its a PITA to stick back on! I used to race, fastest we ever changed one was 1/2 hour with two of us at it, allow a day it's amazing when
competing how fast you can do things !

As above the gearbox is very very heavy and if you are using a jack to lift it off the engine use a ratchet strap to hold it on and definately get a
new fork as you don't want to find it is knackered after you get the box out. When i did the clutch on my diesel disco i lifted the engine
forward so you might be able to do that with the V8. You will find the bellhousing bolts are a total b****** to get at and there are about 14 of them
i think.

Never tried it with a V8 but on a 200Tdi it's possible to unbolt the bellhousing and engine
mounts and move the engine forward in the bay. Then pretend to be a gynecologist and bob's the proverbial.
