powder coating kit
hi all, i would like to get a diy powder coating kit, but not sure if they are any good. as well if i where to buy one, could i get one from the
United States to the uk, and will it work? like this
one
or do i have to buy the one from the uk, link
or second hand unit?
any throughts?

Cubic feed per minute: 3.5 CFM at 30 PSI
paint curing temp: 400 degrees F for 15 minutes (recommended)
I read this as a big air compressor and an oven large enough to put your car in!!!
Not for me then.

theres a chance th one from the states wil be 110v supply, i;ve got one similar to the one in the second link with a bit of practice you can get some
good results the only problem is getting the finished item hot enough, the temp needed varies depending on the powder used (as an example the last
black i used needed 180 degC for 10mins)

Hi i have one kit,
if small items ok with heat gun,
but larger items very hard to keep the heat constant in the item powder coated
Do not so good a finish i have done several items and vary in quality,
good for small items but if you have a oven not probs,

We have the electrostatic magic kit £99 from a show, also we have a dedicated oven and have had great results with rocker covers amd wing protectors
etc on a jeep.

We have found that big items of aluminium conduct so well that even if only half of it is in the oven with the door open the whole plate
cures.(don't try this at home kids! )
In the past the oven was used for baking on smoothrite which gives a comparable cosmetic appearance.

Agree with Indy Bird re. heat gun. It does NOT work with large items, only very small ones. You have to get a constant, consistent heat over the area
and a radiant heater or oven is the only way to get a big area covered. The gun and kit will send powder everywhere, not just on your item, so watch
out!!

thanks for all the comments about the system. i am aware that the USA one is 110v at 60hz so i might not work. so i think if i do get a kit i would
need to oven just for powder coating stuff.
