3 splined trident type socket
Hi all!!!
Trying to do the service on the tintop (renault megane) Why do they make it so difficult??
I'm trying to remove the engine undertray but despite having most types of screwdrivers, sockets etc, I'm stumpted....
The undertray is attached to the bonnet with plastic bolts but rather than being the normal Torx type head its a trident type Y shaped plastic
connector.
Does anyone know the official name for these? It's fricking annoying to find that they've used such a non-standard type- it's almost
like they want you to use their main dealer garage....

Thats the idea behind it.
I've got a bit set for my screwdriver where you just change the head bits, that's got a few of the 3 pointed screw heads.
Probably your best bet as you can get a set for around a tenner. comes with torx, posi, philips, allen key and flat heads.

Aha! A Tri-wing!!!
Cheers
Though reading some forums it appears maybe I don't need to remove them. Apparantly!! You remove 3*10mm bolts (which I did) but that gives you
access to another 2*10mm bolts that are normally hidden from sight (great!!!)...

Turns out the forums AND the haynes manual where wrong!!! 7 bolts in total!! And how the hell I'm supposed to take the pipes off the fuel filter
I have no idea!! The access is terrible- I fear it might be one of these jobs where the Haynes manual shows the procedure with the bumper off
"for the photographs" but in fact it's cos it's a pig of a job the way they describe it (read possibly impossible!!!!)
