A/C Problem on Clio, steam coming out of air vents
I just wondered whether there are any a/c or Renault mechanics on this site who might be able to shed some light on this problem.
Coming off the M6 onto the A14 today in really foul weather, spray and standing water etc, we negotiated the roundabout to see what turned out to be
water vapour coming out of the dashboard vents and in seconds the whole car was totally misted up. The air conditioning was on and the outside
temperature was 10 degrees which might be crucial because I believe the a/c cuts out below a certain preset temperature.
The strange thing is that this evening on the same roundabout but this time in the dry, the same thing happened again although to a lesser extent.
Once on the M6 and heading in a straight line the screens cleared.
Any ideas and help will be gratefuly received. With many thanks,
John

Iv had this in my jag for the last couple of years. Iv had the car in twice to have the drains unblocked but it still does it. I just put up with it.
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Thats what I was going to say, the heater box will have a couple of drains with tubes off down to the ground, if these get blocked then the heater box
will gradually fill with water, condenstation from the condensing rad.
When you go around a hard bend the water splashes up and over the heater core, voila steam in the car.
You need to locate the drain pipe under the car and probe it, use something like a cable tie strap, not a steel rod as you do not want to spear
anything inside.
I had an XJS that did this, in the end I had to pull off the heater tubes on the side of the heater box and wash the inside out with a hose, years of
gunge eventually gathers.
