We like the Royal Garden. Very nice but expensive.

Some bargins to be had on superbreaks.com though.....

I tend to drive, so make sure you find a hotel with parking and expect to pay around £70 for two days parking.

We've used Laterooms before for London breaks with success.

I'd recommend train to be honest as cost of parking, traffic jams, congestion charge etc...

That said I parked in China Town NCP last time we went. Spent one night at the theatre and got 50% off the parking. 3 days parking then cost about £30. Almost good value for 3 days!

I'd recommend seeing a show and I'm sure Mrs Antonio would love it too. We've seen Billy Elliot (v good) and Sound of Music (v good too) within the last year. Good nights out - very enjoyable!

Edit to add - We've stayed at the Jury Doyle two or three times now. Paid about £85 plus a night I think?

Anywhere with tube tickets!

West end is good for sight seeing, drinks and theatre.

as others have said, take the train, the central part you want is pretty small and has excellent if a bit smelly train and bus services tho they do stop at about midnight i think.
visit china town for a chinese, its next door to theater land, watch out for touts selling tickets over the going rate tho.
bars etc will be expensive, tho with the euro/£ you may be ok
just be sensible, dont flash jewelery/phones/cash and you should be ok.
enjoy yourself but wrap up warm, its taters out there at the mo

Last time I went we stopped at the Holiday inn express by the dome (02 arena). Then we got the river boat from Greenwich up to the centre and had the day around there then a meal in China town then tube back. Inexpensive compared with the centre hotels.

If you're out to shows, be careful to time it right or you get stuck with no bus or tube service. Check the hours and budget for a taxi or two just in case.

If I go with the wife we stay around Paddington. There's some nice Hotels and plenty of bars but they shut down around 11~12pm. Thats mainly cause she doesn't like stying out late

Going with the lads for concerts around London we stay around Kings Cross. Pubs are open to 2am and it's easy to get up to Camden for a good night out.

We'll be down there in March for Metallica and staying at Kings Cross
