Peugot 107 Oil level

Daughters 107 oil level has fallen between the two marks on dip stick. Local dealer useless +++, they suggested to look in hand book which she has done. Not in there but only warns not to overfill. She has told them this , and they said " we dont know as its not in handbook "
They suggested she keep on filling it a bit at a time until it reaches the mark.
Does anyone on here know the volume between the two marks or how to find it.
Thanks
Mike

I think most manufcaturers work on 1 litre between the marks. In reality the quickest/easiest way is to top up and re-check a bit at a time.

It is rubbbish that a Pug main stealer can't tell you though. Most likely the phone answerer can't b arsed to look or go and ask one of the technicians

Most people also check a few times while filling to see how things are going, level wise. As to exactly how much it takes to get there you are maybe talking about ½ a litre so it’s a 1 minute job. Mind to give the oil a bit of time to run down to the sump before concluding that you need to add some more. Also wipe the dipstick between readings on a clean rag or jumper.

It'll take about 1/2 pint to a pint (just useing imperial to confuse the issue). I doubt they have a figure for the amount between the marks. I only recall seeing it listed a couple of times in 30 years in the trade. The workshop staff will just use experience to judge it. Just add a bit, give it time to go down and recheck. Remember those are min and max marks, so somewhere inbetween is exceptable.

I can't believe you're criticising them for not knowing that when all you have to do is put a bit at a time in. I bet you still don't know how much it took even after you'd done it.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Its not me who has to fill it with some oil !
Daughter does not live at home and has to do it herself. She attended a one day course in simple car maintenance so she does know how to check oils levels etc.

wife has a 107 very cheap to run little car and pulls well for under 1000cc and only 3 cylinders and very easy to park... it is difficult to read the dip stick long and fiddily .... when it came back from a service done by the main dealer it was between the 2 marks ....... its a toyota engine so must be bullet proof
