I doubt therefore I may be.

He then got emails from people posing as FBI agents investigating the scam, who duped him into funding trips to Nigeria so they could investigate.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I suspect he's about to receive another email shortly:-
"Hi Detective Guinness here.
I am with Hampshire Police and we would love to investigate your case, however it's nearly the end of the financial year and we've spent
all our money on doughnuts and bright yellow jackets. If you were to lend us the money to fly to America, investigate the fake FBI guys, then fly to
Nigeria, investigate the fake woman / funeral then that would be nice.
About £250k should cover our expenses. Obviously you'll get that, and the £130k back once we have solved the case / or in our new financial
year (which starts in April).
If you could make out a cheque to our Counteracting African Scams Helpdesk for the £250k that would be great. If Counteracting African Scams Helpdesk
won't fit on the cheque, the initials will be fine CASH.
If you are to stupid to be able to operate a cheque book then non-sequential used notes would be acceptable, but there will be a 10% handling fee.
Cheers
Det Sgt Guinness"

What is a 'frisp' then?
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Dunno Mr Allanson, but as you are 300 miles further away than me, perhaps you might be able to find out. As I'm only 100 miles from the
border, I won't be googling that, much less posting the answer up on the interweb.
Cheers
