Stationary Cameras
Passed a staionary camers on a pole today in the new tintop (Volvo V70 AWD-with all the toys Luxury Bangernomics)
Theres no such thing as stationary cameras checking for tax discs is there??
It wasn't a speed camera, just looked like a cctv camera with 2 cameras one roughly pointing up the road and one roughly pointing down

It wasn't a blue one, was it? If so, it was one of those traffic watch thingies.

ANPR checks all your details with the DVLA computer but the ANPR cameras are quite different to the revenue....er...I mean speed cameras.
You should be ok
Cheers
Chris
Note to all: I really don't know when to leave well alone. I tried to get clever with the mods, then when they gave me a lifeline to see the
error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!

I dont think it was a traffic watch one, it was directly outside a pub though

If it was right outside a pub (and in a rough ish area?) it may have been to catch the local p1ssheads beating each other up?

If the car is taxed but doesn't have a disc the APNR cameras will (IIRC) be quite happy as they work from the registration plate and the central
DVLA database (and the central insurance database).
Never seen a static APNR camera, always on a tripod in a layby - wouldn't work very well as a static installation.

It is rare you are wrong, almighty and all knowing whipster but this time you are.
The cameras are there so that when the underage totty in their mini skirts fall over the pavement, the police can film their nicks.

Around here they have them on the bridges to track crims around the county.
Theres a whole set at Carisle with illumination so the work day and night.
Seen loads round England mostly on motorway bridges. The one you've seen sounds like a road telemetry one that has ir temp readers and a visual
camera for checking road conditions. they look like anpr but point in a weird angle.
