Sat nav

Hello all. I have a tom tom 910 sat nav. I brought it two years ago and it's been fine, but tried to use it today and it won't power up. Any advice what I should try please.

If you look at the connector you will find a black button. It is very small.
Use a blunt piece of wire (about 1mm) to push the button in. You will feel it give slightly.
This is the soft reset button and will not reset any of your settings etc, just restart it.

I always ask the daft questions...

Take it you've already tried the powering it from a mains charger, rather than a car charger?

And does the LED on the top come on while it's plugged into the mains? If it's not been used for a while, as with most devices, I have to charge mine for a while before it'll power on.

All sorted now thanks. I'd had it charging all day.
Did as nitram38 suggested and it started.
can the maps be purchased anywhere other than from TOMTOM?

Probably ebay, but I would hold off.
I paid for one years subscription because Home software kept on nagging me that my maps were out of date.
I paid.
Roundabouts that have been missing for 15 years have still not been updated and 3 year old housing estates are still not on the maps. If you complain, tomtom blame teleatlas (who they own).
I am going to wait at least 5 years before I even contemplate updating.

Agree it seems daft. Unfortunately, only Navteq seem to put any effort into updating their maps. Given their premium over Garmin, Navigon, Blaupunkt, etc., you'd have thought that TT/TE would be even more anxious to keep their market share...

Have you turned on Mapshare? The new bypass has just opened down the road from me and it was live in the system the next day.

Mapshare works for everything except roundabouts.
