Tin top exhaust problem

I've got an Alfa 147 which I plan to get rid of in the next few months, however, it has recenlt developed an exhaust "rasp", which I initially thought was the cat going however I am told it is actually the flexible piece of woven exhaust where it connects between the manifold and cat.

The problem is that these are £700+vat and the car isn't worth so much nowadays.

Do we reckon I'd be ok trying to wrap it in exhaust wrap insetad?

Yep, if its just vibration causing the noise and not a blow. Or just sticking a couple of Jubilee clips around it should do.

you could do what my dad did with his nissan largo, when the exhaust flexable thingy went.

Found a universal flexable thingy and found a flange from a exhaust specialist that would fit into the flexible bit and bolt to the largos exhaust. then welded it together. I think he managed to reuse the other end.

That bit cost about £20 and the universal thing i think was something like £50. I think www.nfauto.co.uk do one

would be the cheapest way to fix it properly. Not sure how well the exhaust wrap stuff would work.

Can you not pick up a clamp on (or weld on) exhaust flexi pipe to replace the offending item??

Ebay have various sizes available so should find what you need

this sort of thing

ive used one of those, and despite being stainless steel it welded fine with my MIG to the mild steel tube.
