Ok... so seeings as you are all bedding experts...

Trying to keep the costs down, but what sheets would be the harsest wearing and the crispest white colour?

I'm sure that was a poorly disguised cry of desperation

really your best just buying the biggest bedsheets there are as someone always hogs them

Problem is with the sheets, if they're too big then they constantly come undone at the corners, don't know about you guys but it drives me mad waking up tangled in a sheet!

Probably somewhat pricey, but Egyptian Cotton, every time.....

Not nearly as convincing, but always washes up nicely are sheets made from Percal, can't comment on the long term whiteness though......

Woo.. that is cheap...

Tesco do an egyptian cotten one for £18...
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-9353.aspx

Im not actually planning on sleeping on this sheet...

Its for a photography backdrop and floor type thing..

Hence the need for something hard wearing (so people can stand on it) and something that is going to stay white once its washed...

Would that cheap one do the job? Its possibly only going to be used for two events....maybe washed between the two ....

I know bugger all about sheets... id sleep on the concrete floor if I had to..doesnt bother me!

Ooooo good find....

Might have to get a couple meself!

The only thing that would concern me, using it in photography, is whether or not (at that price) it is going to be thick enough, that is, 'transparent'..... not ever bought from there, so I can't comment.

But if it IS true Egyptian Cotton, you should be fine

Tegwin,

Try Dunelm Mill. They sometimes have reduced sheets in store. I bought some over a year ago and they still look brand new.

Interesting point... I was going to light the background from behind anyway... so being slightly transparent perhaps isnt a bad thing...

could always double it up...

I've just bought sheets for the same reason!!!!

I went king sized flat sheet cause they where the largest, except you have hassle getting anything other than white.

I also bought a duvet from ASDA, 10 quid, king sized and black one side, white the other, also means its double thickness so should be better on the light going through it.

How are you supporting the sheets? I made a frame from push fit PVC pipe, but its not very sturdy / good. Need to find another way of supporting it.

Mike... got any pics of your frame?

I was thinking about using 40mm PVC waste pipe with glued on connectors with giant split pins holding it together to make it easy to pack down...

How have you consutrcuted your frame? And how floppy is it?

I was origionally planning to make a colapsible steel frame and then use the backside of vinyl flooring painted matt white as the backdrop..

But the sheet idea will be easier to transport and allows easier lighting of the backdrop
