Charge to remove broadband?
I've just cancelled by broadband with Elipse (had it for a few years). Along with the 30 days notice they're charging me £21 to remove the
broadband from the line.
Is this a new thing? Don't remember ever being charged this before..... more daylight robbery.....

"remove the broadband?"
pfffft
sounds like a scam - plus.net didnt' charge me anything except the month's notice, even tho I was moving away from DSL altogether. you
might find it's in the small print tho, in which case they're entitled to charge it..
Call them and ask exactly how they remove the broadband, might be interesting...

If you are giving up on broadband (rather than moving to another provider), then it is a cease order which can result in work being done by BT in the
exchange to disconnect your line from the ADSL equipment.

Although its only a press of a few keys on a keyboard BT charge for every thing so Eclipse will pass it on and probably add a few quid for thier
troubles

For some reason the Ombusman recently brought in a rule allowing firms to set minimum 18mth contracts for telecoms.
If you leave them before this time they can charge you.
Hence why, in my new house, when I got a phone line setup with BT (unavoidable) and then moved to TalkTalk for phone and internet I got stung for £80
by BT for ending the contract early!
Cheers,
James
