I guess it depends how you define "survives"
Man survives Niagara Falls plunge
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7939451.stm
"The man was eventually pulled from the icy waters and taken to hospital with hypothermia and a head injury.
Canadian officials said he was in a critical condition. "
Head injury
Hypothermia
Critical condition.
Not exactly what I'd define as a roaring success then
I think the headline should have been
"Stupid idiot jumps over edge of Niagra falls. May be dead by the time you read this".
Crazy fooooooool!

Swimming away from the rescuers implies a botched suicide attempt to me.

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

quote:
It is against Canadian law to go over Niagara Falls...
soooooo someone thought we got to stop all these people swimming off these falls, lets pass a law
That’s the thing that goes through your mind as you plunge off the edge of a 180ft water fall,
Oh crap...this is illegal!!

Watched it on the tely last night, he jumped in the water on the Canadian side above the falls, went over the falls, came up on the Canadian side and
began swimming away from rescuers, obvious head injury, no upper clothing, a sightseeing helicopter, got close to him and used the propwash to push
him to shore, were he was rescued.
Not the first idiot to go over the falls without any protection and live.
And yes it is against the Canadian and American law to swim over the falls, most arn't prosecuted due to death.
