Noises and things
Took the car out for a couple of short drives over the weekend to get a feel for it...
Two annoying noises though..
Firstly, the diff makes a honky type whining noise under gentle acceleration but only at specific speeds/engine revs. I had the diff out of the car
and inspected it when I rebuild the back end... everything looked ok, there is some backlash, but nothing untowards.....
Is this noise normal? The noise is pretty loud as the body acts like a soundbox!
Secondly, the rocker gear in the triumph engine seem to be excesivley noisy.... I adjusted the clearences to the higher end of what is recomended in
the owners guide....
Would closing up the gaps a smidgen reduce the noise? There seems to be plenty of oil getting to the rockers.... and I cant see excessive wear
anywhere...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Would the last person who leaves the country please switch off the lights and close the door!

Regarding the tappet clearances I would say unless it has been converted to use unleaded fuel leave the clearances at the upper limit to aid valve
cooling.
