When the job's done

How's about giving me a call and letting me know?

Is it just me or have mechanics stopped ringing you to tell you the job's done? Otherwise what's the point in me giving you my number?

had sort of same situation today,
tuesday i ordered a part of an exhaust for my tin top, they promised me it would be in first thing today(thursday) so at 12 noon i called into the exhaust place to collect it, ( i fit my own exhausts) , parts not there, the guy chases it up with supplier & promises it will be delivered to the workshop this afternoon, so he says to me he,ll ring me when it arrives, at 4.45pm still not heard anything so i phoned the workshop, oh yes its here, great i,ll come & collect it, no sorry we,re just about to shut for the day, collect it tomorrow??????

It started last the year before when I got my mondeo. Sat nav refused to pick up anything (built in to radio) turns out the ariel's rusted. They replaced it under the warranty but when it got to 5.00 I got twitchy and called them. I got:

Is it a focus? (No, YOU sold it to me so you should know)

It's not here.. (It better be, that's my job!)

The paperwork's not here can I call you back? They never did so I went in the next morning all annoyed. Said "can I pick up my car please?" They handed me the keys and then tried to charge me! Apparently because it had been used as a taxi for 3 months the warranty's void. Told them to p!ss off and they should have mentioned that when I bought it. But then I had the keys by this time so I walked out.

I asked the Audi dealer for a price on some new summer tires. That was a month ago. I called his boss and asked the same thing the other day. No response. Needless to say, they are the only Audi dealer for several hundred kms. And they complain business is slow. I'll say.

Ours has done that for years. I think its because they dont want customers coming to pick up their cars while others are still arriving. They want to have them all picked up within the same hours. We normally say we are too busy to pick it up between 5 and 6 (they phone at about 4:55) so we tell them we will pick it up tomorrow morning.

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

I've always had excellent service from Lexus, now have a Mitsi, and they've been ok too.

Ordered a top, it should be here within 2 days, 2 days later phonecall + provisionally boioked in for fitting.

Problem with battery lead, needed a new one (£165 would you believe thank god its warranty) day after phoned me its in ready for fitting.

Must admit they do phone at either lunchtime or 16.00 ish to arrange collections.

I don't mind them ringing at a particular time, even if it's half an hour before they close. Just let me know it's done and you've not lost / forgot about it!
