Buying written off cars?
Im after a specific engine from VAG thats in a few different cars....
Seems a bit silly buying a running car and breaking it.....
Is it possible to buy direct from insurance companies? Might be able to pick up a bagain?...perhaps?
Are there any websites/auctions where you can buy salvage?

I bought a £150 cat C write off from a salvage auction, Century Salvage, tax and tested it and used it for 7 years.. its still on the road now 9 years
later.
They auction off direct from the insurer. Now be careful of salvage yards that buy from these auctions then sell the wreck on for more. As a private
buyer you will be able to out bid these guys at the root auction. They want them for nothing!
And remember unless your a regged breaker you can only buy cat C & D.
There are bargains to be had, I got a crashed Sierra donor about 5 years ago for a friend for £10!

Rather than buy the whole car, try here. You pay a fixed price and tear off all you can in a given time
slot (about 7hrs I belivie)
..Which was nice..

TPG - I like the idea of that place - shame they only have 2 sites and they are both miles away (from me at least not you I notice!)
