Hamilton's Radio conversation with McClaren reg: Trulli
interesting listening regarding the Trulli incident, also its amazing the amount of instruction they get, you just dont realise: for example; telling
him his brakes are cold.

They can't do as much as they used to - they used to have pit to car controls as well...
When Coulthard won in Monaco for McLaren, his engine was putting out bits of smoke on gear changes. They diagnosed it to a sticky solenoid in the oil
system, shut it off, let the pressure build up, and let it open again, and it fixed it... been banned for a few years now tho, which is why the
steering wheels are so covered in knobs and buttons - they gave all the controls to the driver!
You used to be able to see Schumi changing the brake balance / diff settings / whatever, after virtually every corner, to set the car for the next
one. Amazing that they have time to think in that level of detail while driving at up to 200 mph, and fighting other cars, and thinking about their
overall strategy...

I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't drive one of those cars if they asked me. I know getting down the straight is easy, but
putting the foot down results in spins in MOST cases of inexperienced drivers. Relying on the tyres that much would scare the crap out of me.
I think they need reminding, like rally driving, to keep focused on the driving part. The rally drivers will say that a good navigator says the
instructions often because they forget them!

Agreed interesting though. I'd love to know what those codes mean.
Some are clearly the colours of the steering wheel dials but atleast one I couldn't work out.
When I worked at Mclaren a few years ago I was told that the most advanced car was their 1996 one.
That had pit controlled suspension settings, throttle adjusted per corner. etc etc.
Cheers,
James

The term "sport" is questionable when applied to F1 IMHO.

As interesting as the conversation was it didn't explain how they lied. Clearly they had to let Trulli overtake because otherwise they'd
get woop arsed by the Ferrari Assistance International for overtaking under yellows.
So how did they lie.....? I realise it was post race and that conversation was during the race but still....
