306TD cam belt change question
Just wondering if you have ot change the the tensioners when doing a cam belt change on a 306 TD.
I have a new belt waiting but they did not have the full kit in stock. Would quite like to get it done over the easter hols.
Any advice would be great!
Thanks again
Rupert

How many miles has the car done ? if it has very high mileage then its worth changing the tensioner AND the water pump . Timing belt has to come off
to change the water pump which are a little prone to leaking .

same engine as the 406 i had. change the water pump as that was my down fall. had a water leak shortly after doing the belt from the pump so it all
had to come apart again! is your tensioner in the engine mount like the 406? i d change it either way because its about 20 minutes more work. but if
it goes its easier to get another car! how many times have you lost your rag with it? the 406 was a complete pain in the arse and theres more room on
that! you watch them do the mot on a diesel before with the thrashing they give it its well worth it!

Change the tensioner and pump while you've got the belt off and have access. The plastic tensioners are prone to shattering when tenioned
against the new belt. The water pump is just not worth not changing while you're in there.

i paid less than £100 for timing belt, tensioners, aux belt and tensioner, and a water pump last year.
at that price its daft not to to do the whole lot.
