I wish...

...that the BBC had saved the money they've spent on F1 and invested it on other racing series - I've seen Caterham racing, mini (old-style) racing, legend racing series, rallycross, and so on. Every one was more interesting and entertaining than F1, and each one deserves media attention and funding - far more than the F1 farce does. Even lowly club racing would be 100% more entertaining!

I can still remember when the Beeb showed some form of motor racing almost every Saturday afternoon - all sorts of events - where did that go?

Discuss...

I think its great the BBC are showing F1. Better than watching it on a channel with adverts every few laps.

I gave up with Sky because every program was a repeat. I didn't go for their sports package 'cos I hate footie and that was 50% of their output.

Even when I had a free trial fortnight with Sky Sports they rarely showed motorsports...

I just feel that there's a varied lot of really good motorsport action out there that deserves to get much more attention (and therefore money) from the Beeb.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Remember when they had rallycross on almost every weekend, also remember seeing sporting trials once or twice. Watched it in black and white

No idea why they don't bother any more, beyond there being an 'agenda' from those that throw huge amounts of money at f1, touring cars and rallying not wanting the competition from more entertaining sports.

On another note darts is pretty much gone and even snooker seems to be dying a slow death. Even remember watching billiards once years ago (bit slow when you get good players building a break for 2 hour).

I like F1 (even if it would be 100 times better if they stopped shagging around with all the internal politics and just gone on with the racing).

I'm looking forward to Motorsport UK to re-appear with the Seat cup races, Formula Ford etc.....

The last 2 seasons of F1 have been started to get interesting again. BBC coverage is great, just not too keen on Legard, he doesnt seem to have a clue. But at least he doesnt pretend to like James Allen.

WRC on Dave is entertaining. Good coverage and some interesting/funny bits in between. Its also on everyweek even when there isnt an event on with JWRC or PWRC or just features on up coming rallys.

MotorsTV still has all the random championships from Belgium motorcross to Arabian rallying.

Just dont watch the F3 races if you think F1 is boring!

Just one problem with MotorsTV - I don't have Sky or Virgin!

Doesn't alter my original point - could the Beeb have shown (and thus supported and promoted) much more grass-roots motor-sport of varying types if it hadn't splashed out on F1?
