fitted a tow bar today

Company car got took off me the other day, so I was without a tow car for the SVA, and no way I was driving the kit there.

Didn;t want to pay £35 a day to hire a van with towbar, so bought a 2nd hand tow bar for my wifes brava off ebay for £50.

It arrived yesterday, and I fitted it today.

Took 8 hours! bugger me I'm knackered!

I had to drill the car in lots of places to fit it, its witter one.

One thing I was shocked by, was how very easy it was to drill the metal work of the car. a hole that would take a good few seconds to drill in my steel floor of the kit car, took nano seconds. I didn;t know tin tops were so flimsy!

Pleased as punch now though!

Just need to wire the lights in now.... any ideas?

They are a bastard arnt they.
- I know my housemate had to drill holes to fit his to his horrable fiat sedici thing.

The 306 towbar went on in about 50minutes, with all the holes predrilled and a 'plug and play' pug loom kit for the elec.

However i then spend two hours coming to the conclusion it was then possable to get the bumper back on, before giving up and spending the next days lunch break scouting round the works carpark (massive carpark) for 306's with towbars and taking odd photos.
Then i spent another 2hours with renewed confidence it was possable, al be it not very neatly. And then gave up totally have have driven the car without for the last 8months.

I thought it was illegal to drill holes in a car to fit a tow bar. All manufacturers are instructed to fit standard punch out holes.

i dunno, it was only in the body, like the boot floor etc, not the chassis or anything important. certainly seems very solid.

Hope it's on right, towbars and the electrics become part of the MOT test very shortly.
