Fitting a race seat in a tin top
Hi All
I've eventually got my Saxo back after it's MOT with a mate (only took him 9 days!)
I'm trying to mount my race seat into the car, ready for its first hillclimb on Sunday! The seat has alloy mounts which need to bolt down
through the floor.
I can't use the existing seat mounts as they are up on the 'tunnel' and on the sill. The plan is to bolt through the floor with big
repair washers underneath. However, the floor is a mix of double and single skin so it's not that easy. I should probably put spacers between
the double skin bits but it's Saturday tomorrow so I'll be struggling for bits - B&Q only!
Any thoughts?
Regards
Wyn

In my old 205 I welded 2 bars/plates from the cill to the centre of the car above the floor and bolted through them, I raced it for 5 years with no
problem

Ye thats what i would do, weld another plate or something across the floor to bolt down into.

Dependingon gound clearance, i wouldnt put anything under the floor. The last thing you need is ground down seat retaining nuts.
Weld two cross members from the sill to the tunnel, and bolt or clamp onto those. You could even drill and bush them with tapped bushes.
Kindest Regards,
Richard.

Thanks guys.
Welding a couple of bars across would be my preferred option but my welding is sh*t and it's not going to get done before tomorrow!
I've got plenty of ground clearance as it's road going and there are lower bits, so bolting through the floor seems the best option for
now, it's just how do I deal with the double skinned bits!

Drill right through. Drill bigger hole through top skin. You really need a stepped spacer, but could probably improvise with a bit of pipe cut to the
dimension fron the top skin to the bottom skin, or a stack of washers to make up the space between the skins, and then a bigger washer over the
top?

You can do it quickly. You can do it cheap. You can do it right. – Pick any two.
