Reverse light comes on with ignition

Morning all,

I've said I'll look at swmbo's sister's Mitsubishi carisma, which is showing the reverse lights as soon as you turn the key in the ignition. I'm just waiting for the workshop manual to download (another 12 hours!) so thought I'd ask here..

Anyone any pointers on where to look first, or where's the reverse light switch connector on the gearbox? I'm guessing that it's just getting a power feed, so there's a short somewhere, either that or the gearbox switch is nadged... anything else?

Cheers

vince

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Probably a sticky reverse switch. Should be easy to find it, there's usually only two electrical items on a gearbox, the reverse switch and the speed sensor. Reverse switch is usually quite close to the selector mechanism.
