Passat Estate tail light removal - help!

I want to fit a towbar to my 56 reg passat estate and in order to get the bumper off you need to remove the tail lights.

I've searched around other forums to no avail.

Ther is a cover on the side of the light in the boot opening which exposes a bolt. I've undone that but the light is still held at the front end. Anyone got any ideas?

If it's anything like the A4, and the light wraps around to the rear wing, there are two lugs on that edge (towards the front of the car) going into the wing. So if you've unbolted the bolt as much as possible, you need to ease the light away from the wing. But try and do it as straight as possible as they're only plastic lugs.

Does that make sense?
