pinto thermastst question
are you supposed to get a new retaining clip when you purchase a new thermastat? cuz ive just bought one and opened it and it has no retaining clip,
or can i just use a bit of coat hanger, any other alternative
i don't have the old retaining clip, it was rusted to pieces and broke when i took the old thermastat out

I didn't get one with mine, maybe its manuafacturer specific whether you get one or not.
you would need a bit of sprung steel really, what about an old wheel trim they have bits of sprung steel in them although maybe a tad thick.
Cheers

The clip usually comes as part of the fitting kit for the pinto engine aplication of the thermostat, along with a new gasket AND the sealing ring that
the 'stat sits on in the housing. Most of the time you have to ask for the kit as the thermostat its self is a multi fit item, no longer just
for the pinto.
