O/T - Camping site Lake District?
Hallo,
Anyone able to recommend a camping site in the Lakes? Trying to find one to take the family. Looking on the 'net there's too many to
choose from, and would prefer to go on a recommendation...
Cheers,
Rich.

Depends where in the lake district of course but near Keswick for a family I'd use this one...

If that's full there's another across the road. Also called Castlerigg something or other. Both with views, very clean etc.

Another vote for Castle Rigg Farm! We've also stayed at Braithwaite but it gets very busy and it's quite small.

We try and camp wild whenever possible -it's a locost thing to do but there's a decent campsite at Stonethwaite bottom of Borrowdale
Valley - acccess track is poor but adventurous. walk across field s toan excellent pub.
Side farm at bottom of Ullswater is good for lakeside fun and canoeing but they charge for parking/per person etc so it can get expensive.
Little Langdale is great.
If in Northern area, near us, I know a farmers wife who runs a small campsite, on a working dairy/sheep farm in Hesket Newmarket - pub is 2oo yards
away and has its own brewery out the back, Cheap and basic but great for kids. U2U if you want her contact details
Place at Braithwaite on LHS is Ok as is Dale bottom Farm heading south ou tof Keswick towardsThirlmere

Not a campsite, but a recommendation for my favourite lake is Enerdale Water. It's far enough off the normal tourist routes to avoid the
crocodile of people in red socks effect while still being accessible.

Have a look on UK campsite for sites anywhere. Type in Cumbria and search by county and there are loads.

yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
